What if you have a gifted deposit?
Lenders, and your solicitor, need to know the source of your deposit to prevent money laundering and make sure that no one else is acquiring an interest in the property. Most lenders will accept a gifted deposit, but they will want the giver to confirm in writing their relationship to you, that they do not require the money to be repaid and the do not expect any share in the home. The giver will also have to prove their identity and show where the funds have come from.
